    What we do

Decorating a boat is different from decorating a room

Everything on a boat moves, including the air. Helium is out, loose balloons are out, and anything that is not tied down is a problem. What works is an air-filled garland fixed to rails, a half arch on a weighted base at the entry, and signs and table pieces that are secured.

Event Creation decorates charter boats, yachts and private boats at marinas and docks around Toronto’s waterfront and the GTA. Our boat balloon decoration is listed on this website from $330, and larger designs are quoted by the boat.

We install at the dock within the boarding window the charter gives us and remove everything after the cruise or the next morning, as the operator prefers.

    The hero moment

What we decorate on a boat

    Rail garlands

Air-filled garlands tied along the deck rails or the bow, in colours chosen to read well against water and sky.

    Entry arch

A half arch or a small circle arch at the gangway or the top of the stairs, on a weighted base, so guests board through it.

    Signs and names

A neon sign or acrylic sign fixed to the backdrop or the rail, with the occasion or the guest of honour’s name.

    Table and bar decor

Low air-filled centrepieces and bar garlands that stay put when the boat moves.

    Photo corner

A compact backdrop on the deck that gives everyone a photo spot with the skyline behind.

    Logistics

    Docks, boarding windows and weather

Charter operators on Toronto’s waterfront usually allow decorators on board thirty to sixty minutes before boarding. We work inside that window and coordinate with the crew on what can be tied to the rails.

Wind is the main design constraint: everything is air-filled, low and secured. We avoid confetti and loose ribbons that can end up in the lake.

For private boats at marinas in Etobicoke, Scarborough, Mississauga and Oakville, we need the slip number, the boarding time and a contact on the day.

    Before you book

Questions to settle with the charter

The crew’s answers decide the design.

    • What can be attached to the rails, and with what?
    • How long before boarding can we come aboard?
    • Is there an indoor saloon where a backdrop can stand?
    • Where will guests board, and is there room for an entry piece?
    • What is the plan if the cruise is cancelled for weather?
    • When should decor be removed?

    Occasions

    Boat parties we decorate

Birthday cruises, milestone birthdays and bachelorette boat parties are the usual bookings, followed by corporate cruises and appreciation events for teams.

Engagement parties and proposals on the water use a compact entry arch and a sign at the bow.

Graduation and summer holiday cruises take bright rail garlands.

    Questions

    Boat decoration: frequently asked questions

Wind, water and what works on deck.

How much does boat decoration cost?

Our boat balloon decoration is listed from $330 for a rail garland and an entry piece. Larger yacht designs are quoted by the boat and confirmed in writing.

Can you use helium on a boat?

No. Everything is air-filled and secured so nothing blows away or ends up in the lake.

Which marinas and charters do you work with?

Toronto’s waterfront charters and marinas in Etobicoke, Scarborough, Mississauga and Oakville. Tell us the boat and we confirm with the operator.

How long does the install take?

Thirty to sixty minutes for most boats, inside the boarding window the charter gives us.

What happens if the cruise is cancelled for weather?

We follow the operator’s decision and rebook the decoration for the new date wherever the schedule allows. The details are confirmed in your quote.

Can you decorate the indoor saloon too?

Yes. A compact backdrop, a sign and table pieces work well indoors where there is no wind.

Do you remove the decoration after the cruise?

Yes, after the cruise or the next morning, as the operator prefers. Takedown is confirmed in the quote.

Can you add a photo booth or a DJ?

Yes, where the deck and the operator allow. See the photo booth and DJ pages, and we coordinate both with the charter.

Can I bring my own colours and signs?

Yes. Send colours, a theme and any sign wording; custom name balloons are $35.

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as the cruise is booked. Summer weekends on the water fill early.
