    The occasion

A surprise party is a normal party with one extra constraint: timing

Everything about a surprise party has to be ready at a fixed moment, in a room the guest of honour does not know about, with guests already inside. The decor is the same as any celebration; the logistics are tighter. Event Creation plans both.

We decorate and time surprise birthdays, anniversaries, milestones and homecomings at homes, restaurants, halls and offices across Toronto and the GTA. Room decoration is listed on this website from $200, a 12 ft garland from $250, a shimmer wall with balloons from $420 and a classic photo booth from $410.

We work only with the organizer, arrive and leave in the window they give us, and coordinate the venue, the cake and the entertainment so nothing gives it away.

    Logistics

Access, timing and the cover story

We need the room for 60 to 120 minutes before guests arrive and a way in that does not involve the guest of honour: a key, a friend, a concierge, a restaurant manager or reception. Guests arrive 15 to 20 minutes before; the guest of honour is brought in last.

Restaurants in downtown Toronto, North York and Vaughan are used to surprise bookings and keep the private room closed. Halls in Mississauga and Markham let us set up earlier in the day.

We photograph the finished room for the organizer and keep every message with the organizer only.

    Questions

    Surprise parties: frequently asked questions

    Secrecy, timing and cost.

How do I plan a surprise birthday party?

Pick a venue the guest of honour will not see in advance, fix the arrival time, have guests arrive 15 to 20 minutes early, face the reveal wall at the door and give one person the job of bringing them in. We handle the room, the cake, the booth and the music around that.

How much does a surprise party cost to decorate?

Room decoration is listed from $200, a garland from $250, a balloon wall from $380 and marquee numbers from $320 on this website. A full plan is quoted in writing.

How do you keep it secret?

We communicate only with the organizer, coordinate access with the venue directly, and send photos of the finished room to the organizer alone.

Can you decorate a restaurant private room?

Yes. Restaurants keep the room closed and we set up before the reservation.

Can you set up at home while they are out?

Yes, within a window when the house is empty; see room decoration.

Can you do an office surprise?

Yes, before the workday or over lunch, coordinated with reception.

Can you add cold spark or a DJ for the entrance?

Yes, where the venue allows; we time both to the moment they walk in.

    How long does setup take?

60 to 120 minutes depending on the design.

    Which areas do you serve?

Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill and Oakville.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to three weeks; short notice is sometimes possible, so call.
